  1. Visage is an IFF ILBM/JPeg/PNG/Datatypes viewer for the AmigaOS version 3.0
  2. and higher. Main features include:

  4.    Supports AA (AGA), ECS, RTG, PCHG, SHAM and CLUT. ;)
  5.  
  6.    Can display "deep" pictures in all formats on ECS Amigas, rendered
  7.    in HAM, "normal" color or grayscale.
  8.  
  9.    Can scale "rendered" pictures to fit the screen.
  10.  
  11.    Extensive monitor support. Uses a BestModeID()-like function to
  12.    find a suitable mode (if needed).
  13.  
  14.    Any native Amiga screen mode can be specified with text! No numbers
  15.    needed. But you can use numbers, if you so wish. Or a requester.
  16.  
  17.    Simple promotion of pictures to any installed monitor. No hardcoded
  18.    command line options for this. There is even a monitor requester.
  19.  
  20.    Several slideshow options, including a random mode, making Visage
  21.    ideal for use with screen blankers as an external module.

  28.    Norwegian translation updated. A minor quirk is fixed, and added a
  29.    borderblank option. Hopefully fixed the problems with uploading
  30.    Visage to Aminet.

  33. News in version 39.12 (unofficially called VisageNG) include:

  35.    GIF support removed (due to unreasonable (IMHO) licensing
  36.    conditions by Unisys). This is why this release is called
  37.    VisageNG. NG for "No GIF". ;/

  39.    PNG support added. Based on libpng/zlib, so it could probably be a
  40.    bit smaller (and maybe even faster), but it is there, and it works.

  43.    JPEG reader rewritten to use the IJG sources directly. This means
  44.    that progressive JPEGs are finally supported.
  45.  
  46.    CyberGraphX support added (bought myself a gfx-card ;).

  48.    Improved pipe reading capabilities. Most internal readers should be
  49.    able to read from pipes now (including Xpk compressed IFFs).

  51.    Various minor improvements, and a couple of bugs and quirks fixed.

  56. Installation notes:

  58. It is recommended to use the Installer, since it takes care of some
  59. not so obvious details, regarding the JPEG reader (in Visage) and the
  60. manual. If you wish to start the installer from the Shell, please use the
  61. provided ShellInstall script. It sets the parameters correctly.

  63. Also, note that the automatic language selection doesn't completely work
  64. with all versions of the Installer.
